The Coastal Taranaki School community offer their condolences to the family of Mrs Nola Corbett. Mrs Corbett and her family continue to be longstanding supporters of the students in the Okato community.
Each year at our school prize giving we present the Corbett Memorial Award to a Year 6 student for knowledge and kindness, the award has been presented since 1970.
Our thoughts are with the Corbett family.![]()

The Americarna cars passed through Okato today and we were lucky enough to be able to watch the procession.
The 'Let's Go' community bike track event that was advertised as cancelled last week has been rescheduled! for Tuesday 2nd March from 5-6pm at the CTS bike track.
FOCTS will be holding a sausage sizzle.

\\ TE KORU PĀ & OĀKURA PĀ WORKING BEE // Sunday, 28 February![]()
Whānau from Oākura Pā would like to invite the local community to take part in an upcoming working bee. The working bee will consist of two groups- one group will work at Te Koru Pā, the other in the maara (vegetable garden) at Oākura Pā.![]()
9.30am - EVERYONE gather at Oākura Pā for debrief
9.45am - Group travels to Te Koru Pā (carpooling as limited parking near Te Koru Pā), other group walks to maara at Oākura Pā
10am - Karakia
1pm - Lunch is provided at Oākura Pā![]()
TE KORU PĀ
Work consists of emptying large pieces of wood from 50+ bags, filled and helicoptered off Te Koru Pā to a nearby paddock. Due to the rāhui currently placed on Te Koru Pā and the physical nature of the work, it is not suitable for children to be present.

MAARA (VEGETABLE GARDEN) AT OĀKURA PĀ
Help is needed clearing the maara, building raised beds, moving compost, hanging gates... Children who are willing & able to assist are welcome to help. For the safety of younger children, it may be recommended they play on grass away from work area.
* TOOLS: The following tools would be helpful for work required in the maara... weedeaters, lawnmowers, wheelbarrows, powerdrills, skillsaws, building tools (all power tools need to be battery powered as no power in the maara)![]()

BREAKFAST CLUB![]()

We are very happy to share with you all that our Breakfast Club is up and running smoothly and all students
from New Entrant - Year 13 are very welcome to come along. In our trial run we have had students come
along to top up what they have already had at home, or eat because they ran out of time to have it at home.
Some simply enjoy the social aspects of having some kai with their friends. All are welcome, we love seeing
our students’ smiling faces each morning.
When: Monday - Friday from 8.15 a.m.
Where: Foods Room
What: Weetbix, milk, yoghurt, canned fruit, toast and spreads and Baked Beans on toast.
Cost: Free
We would like to acknowledge and say a huge thank you to KidsCan, KickStart breakfast and Okato
Community Church, who have provided all the kai for this wonderful opportunity, which enables us to offer it
free of charge to our students.
We would also very much like to thank our volunteer breakfast-makers-extraordinaire, who are rostered to
assist with the preparation, serving, socialising and clean up. We are very appreciative of Marcus Wade, Joy
Burmeister, Treishka Morgan, Nicola Moffitt and Kat Moffitt who have already started, with others to come on
board shortly.
Shelley Cook (SENCO) and Treishka Morgan (School Chaplain/ Kai tautoko) are the main contacts at school
for any queries.

Beach Education run by Surf lifesaving NZ started this week at NPOB surf club in Oakura for our Year 0-8 students.
Thanks to the amazing life guards, staff & parent helpers who have and will be, supporting our students to participate in this very important educational opportunity. Our junior classes who missed out early this week due to COVID Level 2 and weather restrictions will have the chance later in the year to take part.
